Loose 8×56R (8mm Steyr) 1940s - 50 Rounds
Visit Triple R Munitions, Inc.Description
These are original 1940s surplus 8×56R rounds — a solid pick for collectors, historical shooters, and range use in properly maintained bolt-action rifles like the Steyr-Mannlicher M1895. Each lot has been visually inspected and cleaned; brass cases and projectiles are intact and serviceable for safe firing when used in firearms in good condition.
Important: these are Berdan-primed rounds with corrosive primers. Corrosive primer residue is hygroscopic and can promote rapid rusting if the bore and action are not cleaned promptly after shooting. See the Safety & Cleaning section below.

Designed for rifles chambered in 8×56R (8mm Steyr). Most commonly used in historical Steyr-Mannlicher M1895 rifles. Always verify headstamp and chambering before use. If in doubt, have a qualified gunsmith inspect your firearm and the ammunition.
- Corrosive primers: These rounds use Berdan primers that leave corrosive salts in the bore and action. Failure to clean promptly after shooting can cause rapid corrosion and permanent damage.
- Recommended immediate post-shooting procedure: After shooting corrosive ammo, thoroughly clean the bore and action as soon as possible. Begin by removing loose fouling and salts; historically recommended practice is to flush the bore with warm water (or a bore solvent safe for corrosive salts) to dissolve salts, then follow with a good solvent/brush and patches, finish with a quality gun oil. (If you prefer, consult a qualified gunsmith for cleaning methods appropriate to your firearm.)
- Use eye and hearing protection when shooting. Always follow firearm safety rules.
- Not recommended for use in firearms in unknown or questionable condition without inspection.
